  • Where are Floyd products manufactured?

Floyd products are produced in the Great Lakes Region of the US. We have manufacturing partners in Detroit, Akron, and Chicago.

What are you products made from?

Our metal products are built from U.S.-made cold-rolled steel & finished with a protective powder-coat. Our wood products are made from real birch that is sealed with a protective UV cured clear coat.

Where does the name Floyd come from?

The name Floyd harkens back to co-founder Kyle Hoff's family name — Kyle’s great-grandfather, grandfather, and father all share the first name Floyd and were all once steelworkers in Youngstown, Ohio.

  • Can I use Floyd products outdoors?

We hesitate to recommend leaving your Floyd products outside permanently. While the steel is powder-coated and corrosion-resistant, prolonged exposure to the elements can cause corrosion and some cosmetic wear & tear on the Floyd products. However, if this information does not faze you, then by all means, leave ‘em outside!

    Can you do custom orders?

Sorry, we do not do any custom orders at this time. This includes any custom colors or custom heights for our products.

I would like to cancel my order, how do I do that?

Once an order is placed, it is generally not possible to cancel or change it in any way. If you wish to cancel your order please e-mail hello@floydhome.com immediately and we will do our best to accommodate.

How can I keep up to date with everything Floyd?

We’d love to be friends! You can join our Newsletter and follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Do you have any discount codes?

Discount codes are somewhat of a rarity for us — we believe in the integrity of our products and produce them with high-quality materials that are meant to last a lifetime!

That being said, we know you love to share Floyd with your friends and we do offer a friend referral program. By referring a friend through our referral program, they will receive a promo code for $75 off a purchase of $400+. Once your friend has completed their purchase, you will receive your own promo code for $75 off your purchase of $400+. Friends that own Floyd together stay together!

Do you have standing height legs?

At this time, we do not have any standing height legs. However, if you truly desire a standing height option, you can use the Utility Set as a desk and make a smaller table with the 16" Floyd Legs to place on top!

I want to purchase just one leg, is that possible?

We do not sell legs individually at this time, our apologies!

Can I put casters on the Floyd Legs?

Yes you can, but only on the Utility Set and the 16" Legs. These sets have threaded holes on the bottom of each leg where you can attach casters to create a rolling desk (or bench!). The holes fit 5/16” - 5/18” (7.9 mm - 7.1 mm) screws, so any casters with threaded stems within that diameter will work.

Where else can I find Floyd?

We sell all Floyd products directly through our website and don’t have any stockists domestically or internationally. In addition, you can find a select number of products through our partnership with West Elm online and in-store at the West Elm in Santa Monica, CA, Chelsea, NYC and Austin, TX.

Is there anywhere I can go see the products in person?

Yes! You can stop by the Floyd Shop at our Detroit HQ or check out the Sofa at one of many locations throughout the U.S via Sofa's in the World. Limited product available in select West Elm stores. Reach out to our Customer Experience team at hello@floydhome.com for more details.

Do you offer studio pickups for the Detroit area?

Unfortunately, we do not do any Studio pickups. Although we would love to meet you, we do not keep any inventory at our office.

Who can I contact about accessibility issues I encountered on this site?

Floyd is committed to making its website accessible to all individuals. Please click here to review our Accessibility Statement.

  • My card was declined! Can you tell me what happened?

Due to the nature of online transactions, the errors we can see are very generic. Unfortunately, it could be a variety of factors. We recommend calling your card issuer to resolve this. Most likely, there is a hold placed on your account as part of their fraud prevention service. If you used a debit card, make sure there are sufficient funds in your account before proceeding. Make sure the correct billing address associated with your card was entered. If it is different than your shipping address, there is a checkbox that you can uncheck to reveal more address fields. Also, make sure all your card information was entered correctly. Did you get a new, or replacement, card recently? Even though the number remained the same, the expiration date and security code may have changed!

After you figure out what happened, please first empty your browser's cache before trying to checkout again.

I tried placing my order, but received a card error. Did my order go through by any chance?

Rest assured, if you see any card errors during the checkout process, no orders were processed and no charges were made to your account. Upon a successful checkout, you will see an order confirmation page and receive an order confirmation e-mail.

What is the $1.00 charge to my card account?

Once you enter your billing information, the $1.00 you see in your account is how our store communicates with your bank. Rest assured, the amount will be credited back to you.

I am having troubles with checking out. Can you manually process my order?

Sorry, we can not. To protect our customer's information, we require all transactions to be handled through our website.

Will my card be charged at checkout or time of shipment?

Your card will be charged at time of checkout. If product is in stock, it ships out within 1-2 business days. If product is coming back in stock, the estimated shipping window will be noted underneath the "Add to Cart" button on the product page by color/size variation. Once your product ships, you will receive your automatic tracking number(s) via email.

  • What is a backorder?

Popular products may sell out quickly and temporarily be on backorder. This means that the products are currently out of stock with shipments on their way to re-stock our warehouses. Ordering a product that is currently on backorder is a worry-free way to ensure that you will be first in line for the new inventory and that the product you ordered will be sent out to you as soon as we receive it!

    • You will be notified via a shipping confirmation email (and a tracking number(s)) once your order has shipped. You will not need to contact our customer experience team, or do anything to follow up on your order. We will take care of it for you from here on out!
    • If you order an additional product(s) that is not on backorder, that product will ship separately. You will be notified via a separate shipping confirmation email (and a tracking number(s)) to confirm shipment for any products shipping separately.
    • We will do our best to estimate when backordered items are expected to ship, and post this information on the product page by color/size variation, underneath the “Add to Cart” button. This is only an estimation, subject to change, and shipping dates are not guaranteed.

  • International Shipping

What items do you ship internationally? What are the shipping fees?

We ship a select number of products internationally. If your destination is one of the 190 countries the United States Postal Service Priority International method ship to, it’ll make it to you! A flat rate shipping fee does apply, not including customs.

Each product set is packaged separately and therefore must ship separately, which means the flat shipping rate is per product.

    • The 16" Legs: $100 USD
    • The Utility Set: $140 USD
    • The Shelf Brackets: $80 USD
    • The Framework: $140 USD

Will there be a customs fee? And, will I be responsible for that cost?

Yes, for international orders, there will likely be a customs fee when the product arrives to your home country. Unfortunately, we are not able to quote that specific cost as it varies considerably between countries.

    U.S. Shipping

    What are the shipping charges?

Most products ship for a flat 10% of the purchase price to the contiguous U.S.

How quickly will my order ship?

Orders will ship next business day, unless otherwise noted underneath the “Add to Cart” button onsite. If a product is out of stock, the estimated shipping window will be noted underneath the "Add to Cart" button on the product page by color/size variation. Once your product ships, you will receive your automatic tracking number(s) via email.

In general, orders will typically be delivered in 1-5 business days. Please refer to your tracking information for the most accurate timeline.

NOTE: Due to the way UPS/FedEx handles their shipment volume, if your product contains multiple packages (i.e. The Bed Frame, The Sofa), occasionally those products can arrive on separate days. Unfortunately, this process is out of our control at this time.

NOTE: If you ordered multiple products with different shipping timelines, your order will be split so that products with faster shipping timelines can ship sooner.

How long will it take for my products to arrive?

Within the contiguous 48 states, your order should arrive a few days after it ships out. AK, HI, and Puerto Rico may take a few more days. When shipping internationally, it usually takes about 2 weeks after the ship date to arrive at your door.

    Can you expedite shipping?

No, we are not able to accommodate expedited shipping at this time. What about Hawaii, Alaska, or Puerto Rico? We are able to ship many, but not all, Floyd products to Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico for an elevated flat shipping fee. Please see the below for a summary of shipping charges by product that we do ship:

    • The Shelf Brackets: $70
    • The 16" Legs: $70
    • The Side Table: $70
    • The Utility Set: $70
    • The Framework: $70
    • The Underbed Storage: $70
    • The Coffee Table: $100
    • The Headboard: $150
    • The Table: $250
    • The Bed Frame: $350
    • The Shelving System: $200

Can I ship my order to a PO Box?

We are unable to ship the larger items (The Sofa, Bed Frame, Utility Set, etc.) to PO boxes due to the size at this time. Smaller items such as the shelf sets are just fine to send to PO boxes.

Which carrier do you use to ship Ground?

Domestically, we ship via FedEx and UPS.

Do you ship to FPO addresses?

    We do!

  • What is your return policy?

Floyd was conceived to be a simpler way to buy furniture — we do our best to make returns as simple as possible too.

That’s why for all furniture purchases we offer free returns within 30 days of delivery, in the original packaging.* Only returns made within 30 days of delivery and in the original packaging will be accepted.

For The Floyd Mattress, we offer free returns for unopened mattresses within 30 days of delivery. Once you have initiated a return through our returns form, you’ll have an additional 30 days to donate the mattress to a local 501(c)(3) organization, and receive a full refund with proof of donation (a forwarded email or image of the donation that is clearly specific to the Floyd Mattress). We have a small list of donation organizations to check out here. If you’d prefer for us to remove the mattress, we’ll arrange a pick-up at your home and haul it away for a $100 recycling fee. We ask you to take steps to ensure the Mattress isn’t tossed into a landfill. We know that roughly 20 million mattresses are thrown away each year in the US alone, and even recycling has its limitations, so we invite you to be thoughtful about where your unused mattress will go.

Only purchases made from floydhome.com within the contiguous US qualify for free return shipping within 30 days of delivery. We DO NOT accept International returns. We DO NOT accept returns from Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico.

What are the steps for initiating a return?

    • Step One: If you’re not pleased with your Floyd purchase, please complete the returns form within 30 days of receiving your order.

    • Step Two: Once submitted, our Customer Experience Team will process your request and send you a free return shipping label(s). You should expect to hear back from us within 1 business day.

    • Step Three: Safely package the Floyd product(s) in the original packaging and drop it with appropriate carrier (FedEx or UPS, depending on your return label). You are generally responsible for getting the return product to the carrier. For The Mattress, you are responsible for finding a donation center and providing us with proof of donation.

    • Step Four: Once received at our warehouse, our team will inspect the item(s) — please allow up to 5-10 business days for processing. Provided the item(s) is in good condition, we will issue your refund. Note: If you were charged outbound shipping, you will be refunded the price of the product, but not any shipping charges.

I received a damaged or defective item in shipment. What should I do?

So sorry to hear that! Please contact us at hello@floydhome.com within 10 days of delivery with the following information:

    • ORDER NUMBER
    • FIRST & LAST NAME
    • EXPLANATION OF DAMAGE/DEFECT
    • PHOTOS OF DAMAGE/DEFECT

Upon receiving notification of a claim, a Floyd representative will follow up with you within 1 business day to make arrangements for a replacement or refund as necessary. No restocking fees or return shipping costs will apply.

    Do you accept exchanges?

We cannot facilitate exchanges, but you can certainly feel welcome to return one product and then purchase a different one!

  • Do the legs come with surface materials?

No, we currently do not sell the leg systems with a table top. Your creativity is required! We suggest checking out lumber mills, reclaimed wood warehouses, or antique stores for surface materials. Find resources close to you on our product pages!

What kinds of surface materials do people usually use?

Plywood found at a local or large lumber store, custom table tops, old doors, marble slabs, laminated wood, concrete — you name it and it has probably been used to make a Floyd Table. We do not recommend using glass or other brittle materials for a surface. The material properties of your surface material will determine the load capacity and stability of your table. For example, a piece of 0.5" (~1.27 cm) thick plywood should not span 8 feet (~243.8 cm).

Are there any surface materials that you don't recommend using?

We recommend avoiding the following surface materials:

    • Medium-density fibreboard (MDF)
    • Particle board
    • Acrylic
    • Thin glass
    • Any surfaces that are warped

What should I say when I call up my local lumber mill?

First, you should have an idea of the dimensions of your project. This is very important for the end result. For instance, any wood surface two feet or wider should be at least an inch thick to prevent cupping, which is what happens when a thin piece of wood curls instead of laying flat. It is also important to note prices vary according to size and species.

If you are looking for a clean finish or an even base for staining or painting, you can ask them to sand it.

They can advise on what kind of wood is best for your purposes. For instance, Hard Maple is great for heavy-use tables, while species like American Cherry might be better suited for side tables. American Cherry has a softer grain, which makes them more prone to dents and scratches. Some types of wood we typically recommend are birch, maple, ash, or walnut. Plywood is typically cheaper than solid wood but just as strong if you are working with a budget.

  • Do you have a leather option?

We don’t have a leather option at the moment — definitely on our radar for the future though!

What type of configurations does The Sofa come in?

The Sofa comes in a two-seater, a three-seater and a three-seater with chaise. To note, the chaise can be adhered to either the Left or Right side of the two-seater or three-seater sofa.

What is the weight of The Sofa?

    Upholstered Frame:

    • Two-Seater: 112 lbs
    • Three-Seater: 164 lbs
    • Three-Seater + Chaise: 192 lbs
    • Chaise alone: 28 lbs

    Birch Frame:

    • Two-Seater: 117 lbs
    • Three-Seater: 170 lbs
    • Three-Seater + Chaise: 206 lbs
    • Chaise alone: 36 lbs

How much weight can The Sofa hold?

The Sofa has a tested weight capacity of 300 pounds per seat.

    Is The Sofa durable?

Our sofa went through numerous strength and durability tests at a strength test facility and passed each one with flying colors! The Sofa is constructed with two steel crossbars on the bottom that are attached to the wood frame. One crossbar attaches the front two legs and the other attaches the back four legs. The crossbars are connected to the legs and then the legs are fastened to the bottom wood frame. These crossbars are the core of the strength and make sure that The Sofa doesn’t twist or sag in the middle. This structure ensures The Sofa is very solid and responds well to force in any direction. The Sofa supports weight impact the same way across all of the seats, and it functions as a complete unit when assembled, allowing it to be lifted up to be moved without any parts moving independently.

How many people can sit on The Sofa?

Depending on the configuration, The Sofa sits 2-4 people comfortably.

What materials is The Sofa made of?

The Sofa is made with powder coated steel legs and finished birch plywood panels or upholstered radiata pine plywood panels, depending on if you choose birch or upholstered respectively. The seat cushions have a polyurethane foam interior; the back and arm cushions have a synthetic feather fill. The cushion fabric is made from 95% polyester and 5% nylon. We chose this fabric make-up specifically to allow for sofa cushions that are stain-resistant and easy to clean — two things our thousands of survey respondents specified that they prioritize in a sofa.

Should I be worried about any off-gassing?

No! All the wood components in The Sofa meet the TSCA Title VI and CARB Phase II standards for off-gassing. The foam used in the cushions of The Sofa are below regulatory standards for VOC emissions and are in are in full compliance with ISO 14184-1:2011.

Does the cushion fabric contain any flame retardants?

No. Our sofa is free of chemical flame retardants.

Does the cushion fabric contain any chemicals?

Our fabric is thoughtfully designed to be durable and stain-resistant. It is 95% polyester, 5% nylon, and easy to clean with just soap and water. We had a choice when selecting our fabric and stain-resistant material. Similar to Patagonia’s Durable Water Repellent, we chose a shorter-chain C6 fluorocarbon-based treatment because it breaks down faster over time and is less harmful for the environment. Regarding any other toxic chemicals, our fabrics are in full conformance with California Proposition 65. As with all our products, we continue to seek the highest quality, most sustainable materials possible.

How do I assemble The Sofa?

Begin by attaching the 6 legs to the seat panel using the three-prong knobs. Then secure the legs to the crossbars by inserting two pins through the side of each leg. Next, attach the arm & back panels by fastening the four bolts to the legs using the provided Floyd tool. Finally, add the seat cushions with zippers in the back, the back cushions, and the arm cushions.

To add the chaise: Attach the four legs to the chaise panel with the three-prong knobs. Use the small metal plates and additional three-prong knobs to attach the chaise to either the left or right side of your sofa. Either place the chaise cushion, or replace the seat cushion on that side if you are adding a chaise at a later date.

Can you speak to how to disassemble The Sofa?

To disassemble your Floyd Sofa, you may use our assembly video (linked here) and work your way backward.

As with assembly, we recommend having 2 people disassemble The Floyd Sofa.

    • Start by removing the Sofa Cushions and setting aside, or in boxes if they are ready.

    • If you have a Chaise:

      1. Underneath your Sofa, remove the knobs and brackets that attach the Chaise to the Seat Panel.
      2. Flip the Chaise Panel over, and loosen the knobs to remove the Chaise Legs. Set the knobs, Chaise Legs and the Chaise Panel aside on a soft surface.
      3. If you have the Birch Sofa, please set all panels on a soft surface during disassembly, and place towels or blankets between each panel if you are stacking.
    • Using your Floyd Tool, remove the bolts that secure the 2 Arm Panels, and the Back Panel to the Sofa Legs. As you move around the Sofa, set each Panel aside on a soft surface. (Note: if you have Birch Sofa Panels, place towels or blankets in between the panels if you are stacking them.)

    • Once the Arm and Back Panels have been removed, you can lay the Floyd Sofa face-down, with one person, balancing the Seat Panel perpendicular to the floor. The Sofa Legs will all be accessible and easily removed from this angle.

    • Start removing the Leg Knobs from each leg, and setting aside with the other hardware.

    • Slide the securing pins out from the legs of the Sofa, and set aside with the bolts from the panels.

    • Be sure to keep all of the hardware pieces together in a closed container so you don’t lose them.

    • Lay each Sofa Leg aside on a soft surface until they are ready to be packed.

    • Start packing your Floyd Sofa components!

    • Be sure to pack the Sofa Legs carefully with plenty of cushioning material, to prevent them knocking together and chipping the powder coating during transit.

    • We recommend blanket wrapping your Floyd Sofa Panels, and sourcing cardboard for a protective outer layer.

The Sofa cushions aren’t attached — will they slide out from under me?

No, The Sofa cushions shouldn’t slide, even as you move around! The design of the frame holds the cushions in place with the help of friction between the base and the cushions themselves.

Why are the seat cushions shaped like a wedge?

The seat cushions are slightly wedge-shaped to provide a more comfortable seating position.

Can I flip the seat cushions over?

Yes, as long as the zipper is facing the back, the seat cushions can be flipped over.

Why do The Sofa cushion covers have zippers?

The cushion covers have zippers because the covers are manufactured separately — they are then put on the cushions and sealed post-production. Zippers help with this process! The zippers are NOT there to allow for the covers to be removed from the cushions. We don’t recommend removing the cushion covers as they may be difficult to get back onto the cushions.

Do the zippers show in the back? Can I move them inward to avoid?

The zippers should always be facing the back. Do not place the cushions so the zippers are on the side or front, as this will affect the seating position.

Can I remove the covers and machine wash them?

No — any spot cleaning of The Sofa fabric should be done with the covers on the cushions. Cushion covers should not be removed. Machine washing The Sofa covers will damage the stain-resistant technology. For deeper cleans of your sofa, professional cleaning is recommended.

I have a pet — do the cushions hold onto smells?

Our fabric shouldn’t hold onto the majority of pet smells. If for whatever reason, you notice an odor, we recommend placing a fan over or near The Sofa to help dissipate the odor.

Will The Sofa cushion fabric fade in direct light?

Like most fabric, The Sofa cushions may fade over time if placed in direct light. If you would like to avoid the natural fade of fabric, we would recommend shielding The Sofa from direct light.

How do I clean the fabric on The Sofa cushions?

    • In General: For mild spills, blot with a paper towel. For tougher spills, use a mild soap and water mix. To make the soap and water mixture, take 1 teaspoon of a liquid detergent such as Tide and mix it with 16 oz. of water in a bowl or plastic container — do not over wet the material. Cushion covers should not be removed and laundered — doing so could negate the stain-resistant technology.

    • Liquid Spills: When cleaning a liquid spill, immediately blot the fabric surface with a cloth/towel to remove the spilled liquid. To spot clean the spilled area, soak a clean cloth/towel in a soap and water mixture and clean the stained area in a gentle circular motion. If needed, take a damp, clean cloth and go over the affected area to remove any soap residue from the fabric. Do not over wet the material. If the soap and water mixture does not remove the stain completely, then repeat the above process using a multi-purpose cleaner (such as Woolite Fabric and Upholstery Cleaner). Cushion covers should not be removed and laundered.

    • Non-liquid Spills: When cleaning a non-liquid spill, immediately remove the excess spilled material from the fabric by lifting the spilled material off the affected area with a butter knife and accumulating the spilled material onto a cloth/towel.

Stains that ARE NOT covered include, but are not limited to: Oil-based products (such as salad dressing and lotion), wax-based products (such as candle wax and crayons), ink marks and mustard.

Is it normal for The Sofa to have an odor upon delivery?

Some people may notice a new foam smell for the first few days, but it should go away within the first week. The smell comes from the newly-made foam used in the seat cushions. The foam used in the cushions is under regulatory limits for VOC emissions and is in full compliance with ISO 14184-1:2011.

If the smell persists for more than one week, we recommend placing a fan near the sofa, or temporarily placing the seat cushions in an area with good ventilation — like a porch, entryway, or garage — when not in use to help dissipate the smell.

Do The Sofa legs come with anything to protect my floors?

Yes! The Sofa legs come with glides to protect your floors. You shouldn’t need any additional protection.

    How does The Sofa ship?

What will be included in the shipment?

Does The Sofa ship Hawaii, Alaska, or Puerto Rico?

Unfortunately, we do not offer The Sofa in Hawaii, Alaska, or Puerto Rico at this time.

Can I request a custom color, color combination, or dimension for The Sofa?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate custom orders at this time.

Can The Sofa be used outdoors?

No. The Sofa is intended for indoor use only.

When I move, how should I best transport The Sofa to not damage it?

We suggest disassembling The Sofa (it’s super take-apart-able). Then we’d recommend wrapping The Sofa components in moving blankets to protect them.

What is the rub count of the Sofa fabric?

Our fabric is rated as "Heavy Duty – 15,000 Cycles." We test using the Wyzenbeek method (an equivalent to the Martindale rating).

Is the Floyd Sofa tool a typical Allen wrench? If I lose my Floyd tool, will I still be able to assemble my Floyd Sofa in the future?

Yes. The Floyd Tool uses a standard allen wrench. Either 4mm or 5/32" will work!

  • What configurations does the Shelving System come in?

The Shelving System comes in two overarching configurations: Tall and Short.

There are three tall configurations: Tall, Wardrobe, and Display. The Wardrobe configuration comes with a bar that allows you to hang clothing. The Display configuration comes with one angled shelf that allows you to show off (display) your favorite magazines or art!

What materials is the Shelving System made of and what colors does it come in?

The shelves are powder coated sheet steel and the wood supports are made out of birch plywood with ash wood faces, finished in a water-based clear matte finish. The tracks on the back of the wood supports are powder coated sheet steel.

Does the wood off-gas any VOC’s?

The wood supports are CARB II and TSCA Title VI Certified – the highest government standards for formaldehyde off-gassing.

How much does a fully assembled shelf weigh?

    • Tall Shelf - 77.5 lbs
    • Display Shelf - 77.75 lbs
    • Wardrobe Shelf - 57.1 lbs
    • Short Shelf - 39 lbs

    How does assembly work?

There are two major steps for assembly: First, you will attach the fixed shelves to the wood supports using nuts and bolts. The Tall versions have two fixed shelves, one at the top and one at the bottom. The Short Shelf has just one fixed shelf at the bottom. Once these are attached, you can add the other standard shelves and adjust the spacing as desired. Then, for the Tall, attach it to the wall using the provided wall anchor kit. We strongly recommend attaching the shelf to the wall to reduce the risk of tip-over.

Please find the Assembly Instructions PDF linked here.

The Assembly video can be found here.

Does the Shelving System require any tools for assembly?

Yes. For assembly you will need to use a 4mm (5/32”) hex tool that is provided.

For installing the wall anchor kit, you may need additional tools such as a power drill, phillips head screwdriver, and/or hammer.

Should I attach it to the wall?

The Tall configurations of the shelving system come provided with a Wall Anchor Kit and should be installed to help prevent furniture tip-over. This is especially important in homes with young children or pets. You can find instructions for installing the wall anchor system in the instruction manual. The Short configuration does not require an attachment because it is under 35 inches.

The Wall Anchor Kit is in compliance with ASTM F3096-14, the standard performance specification for tip-over restraints. Note that the use of tip-over restraints may only reduce, but not eliminate, the risk of tip-over. To help prevent tip-over, place the heaviest items on the bottom shelf, do not set TVs or other heavy objects on top of the shelving system, and never allow children to climb or hang on the shelves.

Can the Shelving System stand alone, away from the wall?

We highly recommend placing the Shelving System against a wall and securing the tall units with the Wall Anchor Kit to help prevent serious injuries from furniture tip-overs. The risk of serious injury due to furniture tip-over is reduced with the short shelf but not eliminated. We also recommend placing the Short Shelf against the wall and encourage you to be mindful of placing these units in a safe area for all members of your home.

To further reduce the risk of furniture tip-overs:

    • Place heaviest items in the lowest shelves.
    • Do not set TVs or other heavy objects on the top of the shelving system.
    • Never allow children to climb or hang on shelves.

    Are the shelves adjustable?

The shelving system has nearly endless modularity options! It’s truly a chance for you to express your own style and find an option that fits perfectly within your space.

You will have the option to add on to your tall, short, display, or wardrobe shelving system and attach additional tall, short, display, or wardrobe units.

Additionally, each shelf within the system has three height options allowing you to easily adjust the shelves up and down in order to fit your most prized possessions perfectly. You can also remove shelves as desired to create even more vertical spacing between shelves.

What current add-on options are available to purchase?

The Shelving System allows you to add units indefinitely. Add-ons are available to expand your Shelving System with additional units on either side. Each add-on unit shares the center Wood Support, so for example, when attaching an additional Tall Shelf add-on to an existing Tall Shelf, you will receive one package for the shelves, and one package with two new Wood Supports (rather than four), then attach the new unit next to the first unit, using the same center Wood Support.

Any Tall configuration expansion add-on (The Tall Shelf, The Wardrobe, The Display) and The Short Shelf can be added to any existing Tall configuration.

Any additional Short Shelf expansion add-ons can be added to a Short Shelf.

If you have a Short Shelf and would like to add a Tall configuration, you will need to purchase The complete Tall configuration, because you will need four tall Wood Supports (the Short Shelf would then be added to the Tall, and you would have two extra short Wood Supports). You cannot attach a Tall expansion add-on to a Short Shelf.

Here are the available add-ons. If you have any questions about add-on compatibility, please review the information above or reach out to us at hello@floydhome.com.

    • Tall Shelf Add-on
    • Short Shelf Add-on
    • Wardrobe Shelf Add-on
    • Complete Display Shelf Add-on

How much weight can the Shelving System hold?

An individual shelf has an approximate weight limit of 65 lbs.

The Short Shelf allows for a weight limit of 195 lbs a complete unit, distributed appropriately across each of the 3 shelves.

The Tall Shelf allows for a weight limit of 390 lbs for a complete unit, distributed appropriately across each of the six (6) shelves.

The Display Shelf allows for a weight limit of 35 lbs for the one angled display shelf, and 325 lbs, distributed appropriately across each of the other five (5) shelves.

The Wardrobe Shelf has a 50 lb weight limit for the wooden dowel rod and a 195 lb weight for the three shelves, distributed appropriately across each of the three (3) shelves.

How should weight be distributed on the shelves?

We recommend placing your heavier items on the lower shelves of your shelving system (here’s looking at you, avid record collectors!). Even distribution horizontally across the shelves is also recommended so be sure to keep this in mind during your shelf curating process.

  • How should I use the Side Table?

We created the Side Table as a versatile table that could be used throughout the home. It’s great as a pair of bedside tables; in the living room next to a couch or chair; as a stool; as a plant holder. In sum: the Side Table is designed to go anywhere.

What is the Side Table made of?

The table top is made of solid birch plywood with either a real birch or smooth linoleum surface material.

The legs are powder coated steel.

Does the table top off-gas any VOC’s?

The table top is manufactured to meet the highest government standards (CARB 2) for VOC off-gassing. There is a negligible amount of VOCs, if any at all. The linoleum itself is also made of all-natural materials.

How much does the Side Table weigh?

The 18-inch side table weighs 14.5 lbs. The 15-inch side table weighs 12.3 lbs.

How much weight can the Side Table hold?

The Side Table is designed to support a maximum of 200 pounds. The table should only be used with all 3 legs firmly set on level ground.

How do I assemble the Side Table?

Starting with the table top facing down, align the holes on each leg with the holes on the table top. Insert the fasteners through the holes on the legs, and hand-tighten each fastener to secure the legs to the tabletop (x6). Once each fastener is tightened, flip over the table and move it into place. That’s it!

How do I clean the Side Table?

Linoleum surface: For basic cleaning, the best way to clean the surface of the table is to use 1 part dish washing liquid (such as Dawn, etc.) to 1 part water. Do NOT use Windex or other harsh cleaning supplies on the surface, as this could damage or warp the linoleum.

For minor scuffs, use Linseed Oil (boiled or unboiled), which can be found at your local hardware store, or online. Apply the oil directly to the affected area and let sit for 5 minutes. Then, using a damp cloth, buff the area in a circular motion. Allow the area to dry completely before using. You may need to reapply and repeat this process a few times to fully remove blemishes.

Birch surface: For basic cleaning, dust with any regular dust cloth or clean with any wood cleaning spray. For cleaning spills or stains, use a damp cloth.

Is there anything I shouldn't put on The Floyd Side Table?

Be careful of putting potted plants directly on the linoleum surface! We recommend putting a coaster or trivet underneath any terracotta or other pot.

How does the Side Table ship?

The Side Table ships FedEx or UPS Ground. Select cities and variants are also eligible for pick your delivery date, as soon as same-day.

What will be included in the shipment?

    Each Side Table package includes:

    • One table top
    • 3 steel legs
    • 6 fasteners to secure the legs to the table top.

What are the shipping weights and dimensions?

The shipping box measures 25 inches long x 22.5 inches wide x 4 inches tall. The Small Side Table package weighs 16.5 lbs and the Large Side Table package weighs 18.5 lbs.

What are the shipping lead times?

When the Side Table is in stock, it generally takes about 1-2 days to process from time of order until shipment. If the Side Table is on backorder, an estimated ship date range will be noted on the product page underneath the "Add to Cart" button. Once shipped, you will receive your tracking information via email.

Does the Side Table ship internationally?

We do not offer the Side Table internationally at this time. Please see our Hardware for a list of products that do ship internationally for a flat rate shipping fee (not including customs). In particular, the 16" Legs allow you to source your own table top to make a side table!

Can I request a custom color or dimension for the table top or table legs?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate custom orders at this time. However, our product team is always looking for input for future designs. Send your ideas to hello@floydhome.com

Can I order just the Side Table top to use with the Floyd Legs I already have? Or, just the legs to make my own table?

Unfortunately not. The Floyd Side Table legs and table top are designed as a system of parts, and will not function separately. They are not available for purchase on their own.

I want to source my own surface for a table — do you still have that option?

The option to use your own surface material is still available if you purchase the 16" Legs and the Utility Set.

Can the Side Table be used outdoors?

No. The Side Table is intended for indoor use only. The wood top and steel legs are not treated to handle the elements.

I need replacement assembly instructions for my Side Table. Where can find them?

You can download the Side Table instructions in English, French, and Spanish here.

  • What is the Coffee Table made of?

The coffee table is made with a real birch plywood surface finished in a water-based polyurethane clear coat for protection. The legs are powder coated steel.

How do I assemble the Coffee Table?

Starting with the coffee table top facing down, align the holes on each leg with the holes in each corner of the coffee table top. Insert the fasteners through the holes on the legs, and hand-tighten each fastener to secure the legs to the coffee table top (x8). Once each fastener is tightened, flip the coffee table over and move it into place. That’s it!

How do I clean the Coffee Table?

For daily cleaning, use a damp cloth with a dab of dish soap or vinegar. For anything tougher, use vinegar diluted in water. Wipe the table dry after cleaning, and never leave standing water on the surface for an extended period of time. Potted house plants may leave water marks on the table if left for an extended period of time. We suggest using water-tight pots or plastic drainage trays and frequently cleaning the area under the pot. The surface is made from real wood and as such may fade over time in direct sunlight. The legs can be dusted or cleaned with a damp cloth.

Is there anything I shouldn't put on the Coffee Table?

For best protection, use a coaster when placing drinks or hot items on the coffee table. It is real birch wood, after all! Be careful of putting potted plants directly on the surface — always use a drainage tray! We recommend placing a coaster or trivet underneath any terracotta or other pot.

How does the Coffee Table ship?

The coffee table ships FedEx or UPS Ground depending on your location.

What will be included in the shipment?

One coffee table includes: one (1) coffee table top, four (4) table legs, eight (8) hand knobs (2 per leg – to attach legs to table top), and four (4) rubber feet to protect floors.

The shipment includes two (2) boxes: one (1) for the coffee table top and one (1) for the legs and fasteners.

What are the shipping weights and dimensions?

The round coffee table: The coffee table top box is 36” long x 36” wide x 3” tall, and weighs 31 lbs. The box for the legs is 17.5” long x 13” wide x 4.5” tall, and weighs 10.5 lbs.

The oval coffee table: The coffee table top box is 61” long x 21” wide x 4” tall, and weighs 37 lbs. The box for the legs is 17.5” long x 13” wide x 4.5” tall, and weighs 10.5 lbs.

What are the shipping lead times?

When the coffee table is in stock, it generally takes about 1-2 days to process from time of order until shipment. If the coffee table is on backorder, an estimated ship date range will be noted on the Coffee Table product page, underneath the “Add to Cart” button. Once shipped, you’ll receive two tracking codes: one for the table top, and one for the legs.

Does the Coffee Table ship internationally?

While we do not offer the coffee table internationally, we do ship the 16” Legs and the Utility Set for a flat shipping fee of $70 USD, not including customs. The 16” Legs and Utility Set allow you to source your own surface to make a table — the 16” Legs in particular are a great substitute for the coffee table.

Can I request a custom color or dimension for the table top?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate custom orders at this time.

Is the Coffee Table top surface available for purchase on its own?

The coffee table top surfaces are not available for purchase on their own at this time — the product is designed as a system of parts and will not function separately.

I want to source my own surface for a coffee table — do you still have that option?

Yes! We still offer the 16” Floyd Legs.

Can the Coffee Table be used outdoors?

No. The coffee table is intended for indoor use only. The wood top and steel legs are not designed to handle the elements.

I need replacement assembly instructions for my Coffee Table. Where can find them?

You can download the Coffee Table instructions in English, French, and Spanish here.

  • How many people can sit around the Table?

The rectangular table can fit four to six people: one or two on each side, one on each end.

The round table fits four people comfortably.

What is the Table made of?

The rectangular and round linoleum tables are constructed with solid high-grade birch plywood and a soft yet durable linoleum surface.

The rectangular and round birch tables are constructed with solid high-grade birch plywood and a durable Birch veneer surface, that has a UV-cured coating to protect it from any messes that may (and will) happen.

The legs are powder coated steel.

Why is the Birch Table more expensive than the Linoleum Table?

The price of the Birch Table reflects the higher cost of the birch veneer for the surface, as well as the more intricate manufacturing process for this type of surface.

Does the table top off-gas any VOC’s?

The table tops are manufactured to meet the highest government standards (TSCA Title VI and CARB 2) for VOC off-gassing. There is a negligible amount of VOC’s, if any at all. The linoleum itself is also made of all-natural materials.

How much does the Table weigh?

The rectangular table weighs 74.3 lbs combined. The table top alone weighs 54.4 lbs and the four legs together weigh 19.3 lbs.

The round table weighs 73 lbs combined. The table top alone weighs 53 lbs and the four legs together weigh 19.3 lbs.

How much weight can the Table hold?

The Table can comfortably hold up to 150 lbs. However, do not load the table with more than 150 lbs.

How do I assemble the Table?

Starting with the table top facing down, align the holes on each leg with the holes in each corner of the table top. Insert the fasteners through the holes on the legs, and hand-tighten each fastener to secure the legs to the table top (x12). Once each fastener is tightened, have a friend help flip over the table and move it into place. That’s it!

How do I clean the Linoleum Table?

For basic cleaning, the best way to clean the surface of the table is to use 1 part dish washing liquid (such as Dawn, etc.) to 1 part water. Do NOT use Windex or other harsh cleaning supplies on the surface, as this could damage or warp the linoleum.

  • Does the Floyd Mattress sleep hot or cold?

The Floyd Mattress has a Tencel top layer that is highly breathable for temperature regulation, and bonus, it’s resistant to bacteria. Floyd also uses a Copper Graphite Cool Flow™ foam layer infused with copper and graphite to help dissipate heat. The combo of these two makes for a well regulated sleeping temperature. The inner springs sleep up to 28% cooler than foam, and are proven to be 26% more durable than foam encasements.

Will the Floyd Mattress work with any bed frame?

It sure will! While the Floyd Mattress is best suited for platform beds (i.e. the Floyd Bed), it will work with any slatted bed frame. If using a more traditional bed frame that requires a boxspring, you can place the Floyd Mattress on the boxspring.

Floyd offers 5 sizes of mattress - Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen and King.

And just because we offer both a Bedframe and Mattress, it doesn’t mean you have to bundle with us. You can purchase a Floyd Mattress to go with your West Elm Bed. Or an Avocado Mattress to go with your Floyd Bed. Or in another direction completely. We just want you to have as much information as possible to purchase confidently.

What are the dimensions of the packaging for the Floyd Mattress?

All sizes of mattress are shipped in the same 18" x 18" x 48" box, with the mattress size marked on 2 sides of the package.

What is the weight capacity of the Floyd Mattress?

Thanks to high-quality materials and construction, the Floyd Mattress can comfortably support individual sleepers up to 350 pounds with no discernible loss of comfort or support.

Where is the Floyd Mattress made?

We have partnered with a wonderful manufacturer right here in the USA.

How long will it take to receive my Floyd Mattress?

All orders for in-stock Floyd products ship within 48 business hours. Once your Mattress is en route, you will be sent an automatic email with tracking details to follow. Transit ranges from 1-5 business days, and your tracking will provide a scheduled delivery date, so you will know when to expect your Floyd Mattress.

Will my Floyd Bed + Mattress be delivered together?

At this time, the Floyd Bed and Mattress are shipped from separate locations via UPS or FedEx Ground, so your Floyd Bed + Mattress may arrive a day or two apart.

    Mattress breathability?

Inner springs sleep up to 28% cooler than foam, and are proven to be 26% more durable than foam encasements.

How does the Floyd Mattress feel?

We wanted to design a mattress that you didn’t just want to take a nap on. We wanted to bring you a mattress that you could spend all of your cave days and cozy nights on. Call in to work sick kind of comfortable. And we think we got it just right.

When you lay on the mattress, it has a gentle yet supportive reception, that cradles you like a thousand tiny hands, relieving your pressure points. The foam has give to allow you to sink in, and the springs provide the support to align your spine and make you feel weightless. Plus our signature copper graphite infused layer keeps a well-regulated temperature all night long.

We conducted some customer interviews before launching the Floyd Mattress, to see how best to communicate comfort to you. On a scale of 1-10, the average rating for firmness was a 7, which is a pretty sweet spot to be in. Some keywords customers used to describe the Mattress during testing were cool, supportive, squishy and comfortable.

I like my beds to be super soft, is this a good fit for me?

The good news about a hybrid mattress like ours is that it conforms more readily to all sleep styles. We polled customers before introducing the mattress and asked what they would like to see. The resounding response was that they wanted support. So the Floyd Mattress provides a little bit of both supportive and soft, leaning more on the supportive side. User testing rated the Floyd Mattress as a 7 on a 1-10 scale of soft to firm. That being said, if you need a 1-6 softness, you may want to try our mattress knowing we have a 30-day environmentally-friendly trial and return policy. Learn more about it in our FAQ here. Additionally, if you try Floyd and prefer a little extra softness, our customers have reported that adding a topper was successful in providing extra plush to their sleep.

I need the firmest mattress out there, should I try Floyd?

We performed user testing and on a scale from 1-10 of soft to firm, the Floyd Mattress was rated a 7! However, is our mattress on the far end of the firm spectrum? Not exactly, but is it supportive? Yes. That being said, if you need a 10, you may want to try our mattress knowing we have a 30-day environmentally-friendly trial and return policy. Learn more about it below!

I sleep on my back, should that be a problem?

As you should! Sleeping on your back provides the best alignment for your spine and you are more suited to all kinds of mattress. So Floyd should be right up your alley. The good news is that hybrid mattresses, like Floyd, are more adaptive to all different kinds of sleep styles.

Can you sit on the side and not slide off?

The edges of the mattress have a higher gauge steel coil, providing a little extra support to keep you from rolling off of your bed mid-slumber.

How do I unbox the mattress?

    1. Start by opening one end of the box. Place the open end of the box down, and then lift the box up.

    2. Place the compressed Mattress roll on your bed frame and remove the outer plastic. Be sure to recycle! (Check your local guidelines for recyclability). Then, unroll the mattress.

    3. Cut the inner bag carefully as to avoid cutting the mattress upholstery. You will hear a rush of air as the mattress expands. Completely remove the inner plastic bag.

    4. After one hour the mattress will be fully decompressed and ready to use.

Do I need a cover on my Floyd Mattress?

The Floyd Mattress cover is not waterproof or removable/washable, so for extra protection, we’d recommend adding a mattress protector.

Can I flip the mattress over?

No. The mattress is constructed with distinct layers of foam and coils and has a specific top and bottom that helps support you when you sleep. You can, however, rotate the mattress 180 degrees.

How should the Floyd Mattress be cleaned?

The best way to keep your mattress clean is to use a waterproof mattress protector. For general care and cleaning, we recommend washing your bedding weekly. We also recommend rotating your mattress 180 degrees every six months or so (not flipping it – the mattress is constructed with distinct top & bottom layers). This will help prolong the life of the mattress. At the same intervals, we advise vacuuming your mattress with an upholstery attachment (and your bed frame, while you’re at it!). The Floyd Mattress has a Tencel cover that is naturally hypoallergenic, but vacuuming it can help remove any dust that naturally accumulates over time.

For any spills, first dab the area with a clean cloth to absorb as much of the spill as possible. If needed, you can spot clean spills and stains with cold water and a mild soap or detergent. Do not use bleach.

Does the Floyd Mattress require a box spring?

There is no boxspring required for a platform, or slatted bed frame. If you have a bed frame that requires a boxspring, the Floyd Mattress will go right on top.

What kind of foam is used in the Floyd Mattress?

The Floyd Mattress uses 3 different densities of CertiPUR-US® certified foams, making sure you have plush support and proper alignment, however you like to snooze. Learn more about CertiPUR-US® here.

Is there any off-gassing from the foam in your mattress?

Due to our CertiPUR-US® foams, there are very low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million).

When you open your new Floyd Mattress, you may notice a light scent at first. Please know that this is due to the contents being under pressure, and will dissipate within a few days as the mattress acclimates to its new environment.

Is there any latex in the Floyd Mattress?

Rest assured, we considered allergies when choosing the materials for the Floyd mattress, and we chose to go latex free.

What kind of warranty does the Floyd Mattress come with? What is covered?

The Floyd Mattress is covered by a 10-year warranty. You can read more about it here.

Do you offer a trial period for the Mattress?

In the spirit of designing things to be kept, if you’re not satisfied with The Floyd Mattress, we ask our customers to take steps to ensure it isn’t tossed into a landfill. We know that roughly 20 million mattresses are thrown away each year in the US alone, and even recycling has its limitations, so we invite you to be thoughtful about where your unused mattress will go.

If you’d like to return The Floyd Mattress, you have 30 days from receiving your order to initiate a return. Once initiated, you’ll have an additional 30 days to donate the mattress somewhere, and receive a full refund with proof of donation. If you’d prefer for us to remove the mattress, we’ll come to your house, and take it away for a $100 recycling fee.

What is the Mattress Recycling Fee?

New laws in California, Connecticut and Rhode Island now require retailers to collect a small fee at check-out for each mattress sold. The fees are then transferred to the state to fund their recycling efforts. The collection of fees is mandated by these new laws. Even if you aren't getting rid of a mattress now, you will eventually and the collection of fees now help to cover those costs down the road. The Mattress Recycling Council (MRC), a non-profit organization established by the mattress industry, created and manages the program. The MRC utilizes a network of organizations to effectively pickup, transport and recycle old mattresses within the new government regulations. To learn more about the initiative, visit mattressrecyclingcouncil.org.

Is there anywhere I can try the mattress before purchasing?

At this time, we do not have any Floyd Mattresses in the wild for you to try before you buy. However, as with all things Floyd, we have a 30-day return window. If at 30 days, you aren’t 100% thrilled with your mattress, you will have another 30 days to donate it to a local charity for a full refund, or we will schedule a pick-up for it to be recycled for $100 fee. Check out the details here.

What should I do with my old mattress?

To make room for your new Floyd Mattress, we recommend donating your mattress if possible. You can use our list of resources here as a guide. If you live in Connecticut, Rhode Island or California, you can have your mattress recycled for free.

  • How does the platform bed ship?

If your bed is shipping FedEx or UPS ground, it will ship in 2 packages: 1 for the panels, and 1 for the framework (the metal supports). For your convenience, there is no signature required. Once the bed ships, you will receive 2 tracking codes (1 for each package). The packages can occasionally arrive 1-2 business days apart; unfortunately, we have little control over why FedEx and UPS do this. So just keep an eye on your tracking!

What are the shipping lead times?

When The Bed is in stock, it generally takes about 1-2 days to process from time of order until shipment. If the bed is on backorder, an estimated ship date will be noted on the platform bed product page underneath the “Add to Cart” button.

Once the bed ships, it’s about 2-3 business days to the East Coast; 4-5 days to the West. However, we always recommend keeping an eye on your tracking for the most up-to-date information!

What are the dimensions of the Platform Bed?

You can view dimensions on our product page.

Will a Full mattress work with a Floyd Platform Bed? Which size should I get?

While we don't make a Full Platform Bed, you can absolutely put a Full mattress on our Queen Platform Bed, and many customers do! With a Full mattress, there's just a bit more of the panels that show. A Full mattress will not work on our Twin Platform Bed.

Does the King Platform Bed work for a California King mattress?

The King Platform Bed without headboard assembled is 89” (~226 cm) wide and 86" long - definitely big enough for a California King mattress. With the addition of a headboard however, the length of The King Platform Bed cannot accommodate a California King mattress.

What is the weight limit for the Platform Bed?

The conservative weight limit on the Floyd Platform Bed is 600 lbs (~272 kg).

How much does the Platform Bed weigh?

The Platform Bed system consists of panels and sets of metal supports depending on your mattress size. Each panel of the bed frame weighs ~25 lbs (~11.3 kg).

    • A complete Twin Platform Bed: ~65 lbs (~29.5 kg)
    • A complete Queen Platform Bed: ~93 lbs (~42.2 kg)
    • A complete King Platform Bed: ~120 lbs (~58.5 kg)

What is the clearance from the floor to the bottom of the Platform Bed?

The Platform Bed is 7.5” (~19 cm) tall and the panels are 1.5” (~3.8 cm) thickness. That leaves 6” (~15 cm) of clearance from the floor to the bottom of the platform for storage underneath.

Do you have a video showing how to assemble the Bed Frame?

Yes we do! Take a look here.

Can you speak to how to disassemble the Bed Frame?

Moving? Taking Floyd with you? Here’s how to break it all down - we’ve got a few tips to make disassembly as simple as assembly.

To disassemble your Floyd Bed, you may use our assembly video (linked here) and work your way backward.

As with assembly, we recommend having 2 people disassemble the Floyd Bed. If you have a Headboard, and your Floyd Bed is against a wall, be sure to move it far enough away from the wall to slide the Headboard Hardware out from in between the Bed Panels.

    1. Start by releasing the 2 ratchet straps that hold the Framework together (there is a how-to clip in our assembly video at 3:31).

    2. Roll up and store the straps.

    3. If you have a Headboard:

      1. Loosen the knobs that secure the Headboard Panel on to the Headboard Hardware.
      2. Remove the Headboard Panel and set aside on a soft surface.
      3. Loosen the Headboard Hardware knobs underneath the Bed Panels - the knobs that secure the Headboard Hardware to the Bed Panels.
      4. Pull the Bed Panels apart slightly, so that the Headboard Hardware slides out freely.
      5. Pack the Headboard Hardware carefully with plenty of cushioning material to prevent them knocking together and chipping the powder-coating during transit.
      6. Be sure to keep all 6 Headboard Hardware knobs together, or you can leave them in the Headboard Hardware for easy storage.
      7. Proceed to disassembling the Floyd Bed.
    4. Pick one side of the Floyd Bed to start on.

    5. Have one person (Person 1) support the bed panel, while the other (Person 2) removes the 2 outer brackets and sets them aside.

    6. Have Person 2 stabilize the second panel, while Person 1 removes the first panel and sets it aside on a soft surface (e.g. moving blanket).

    7. Continue removing the brackets and panels alternately until the Floyd Bed is fully disassembled.

    8. Be sure to lay cardboard or moving blankets in between the panels to prevent rubbing or scratching that could compromise the clear coat finish on the panels.

    9. Start packing your Floyd Bed components!

    10. Pack the brackets carefully with plenty of cushioning material to prevent them knocking together and chipping the powder-coating during transit.

    11. We recommend blanket wrapping your Bed Panels, and then adding a protective outer layer of cardboard.

I want to expand my Platform Bed to the next size up. Can I buy extra supports and panels?

Yes! The bed is meant to be modular, so that’s exactly what we’re hoping you’ll do! Here are the following combinations you’ll need:

    • Twin → Queen : 2 middle supports + 1 panel
    • Twin → King: 4 middle supports + 2 panels
    • Queen → King: 2 middle supports + 1 panel

Please e-mail us at hello@floydhome.com if this is something you’d like to explore!

    Does the mattress slide around?

We don't have issues with the mattress sliding as the middle supports and your body weight create natural friction. Furthermore, the weight of most mattresses prevent sliding as well. If you want extra "support" against sliding, you could always put a rug mat between your mattress and the bed frame as well.

Can the mattress breathe on the Platform Bed?

Unless you live in an incredibly humid climate or home, there's no need to worry about your mattress breathing. Granted, our Bed Frame does not allow for as much air supply to your mattress as a traditional slatted frame, but this should not be an issue. Just be sure to clean up any spills on the mattress, bed panels, or any other moisture that may accumulate.

If you do live in a humid climate or space, we would recommend that you use a dehumidifier to ensure you are providing the proper environment for the longevity of your Bed Frame. Visit our warranty page for more information.

Can I increase the height of my bed?

No, we do not recommend increasing the height of your bed. There is no way to do this without compromising the bed structurally.

Can I stain or refinish the panels?

We do not recommend staining or refinishing the panels. They are already UV sealed with a light clear coat.

What makes the panels different from just any piece of wood?

The panels are constructed with a honeycomb core, keeping them lightweight without compromising their strength or sturdiness.

Can I find the honeycomb panels at my local wood store?

No, this type of panel cannot be found at your local lumber yard. If you’d like to source your own panels, check out the Floyd Bed Framework.

    Can I cut the panels?

No, they are not solid wood throughout. Cutting them will damage their structural integrity.

Is there any way to round the corners on the panels?

Unfortunately, we cannot round them. The corners on the panels have a slight radius.

    Is the bed modular?

Yes! The bed is modular, which means you have a kit of parts that can be additive or subtractive. For example, if you have a Queen Platform Bed, you can easily make it into a Twin Platform Bed by removing one panel and two supports.

Are variations in the wood grain of my panels normal?

Yes. Please note that since birch is a natural material, each panel can have slight color, texture, and grain variations.

    Are the panels treated?

The panels are finished with a light clear coat that is UV sealed.

    Do the panels off-gas VOC’s?

The panels are produced to meet the highest government standards for VOC off-gassing. There is very very little off-gassing, if any at all.

Can the Platform Bed withstand intense action ;) ?

We know what you are thinking, and yes, the Platform Bed can perfectly withstand lots of action and will not make a sound.

What mattress & bedding would you recommend with the Floyd Bed Frame?

We recommend our friends Tuft & Needle for a mattress and Parachute Home for bedding! We do not recommend using a mattress with an adjustable or mechanical base such as the Tempur-Pedic adjustable base.

I need replacement assembly instructions for my Platform Bed. Where can find them?

You can download the Platform Bed instructions in English, French, and Spanish here.

  • Can the Headboard be applied to any size of the Platform Bed?

We have the Headboard available in two sizes: Queen and King. The King Headboard does not work with a California King mattress. With the current design, we will not be offering a Twin Headboard.

What is the total length and height of the Platform Bed + the Headboard?

If you set up the Headboard brackets 2" from the end of the panel (as recommended), the assembled Headboard adds about .5" to the total length to the Platform Bed, making the complete length 86.5". The complete Headboard assembly adds 24.5" to the height of the Platform Bed. From the floor to the top of the Headboard measures 31.5".

    Is the headboard angled?

Yes, the Headboard is angled back slightly (79.5 degrees from the back of the Platform Bed). But, with your Headboard brackets placed 2” from the end of the panels, this angling should not take up additional space.

    How does the Headboard ship?

The headboard itself ships in 2 packages, and therefore generates 2 tracking numbers: 1 for the headboard panel, and 1 for the headboard brackets. Adding the headboard to your Platform Bed order will result in 4 packages and therefore 4 tracking numbers: 1 for the panels, 1 for the framework, 1 for the headboard panel, and 1 for the headboard brackets.

If you are located in NYC, SF, LA or CHI, and in an eligible zip code, you have the option to pick your delivery date, as soon as same-day. If you choose this option, your headboard will arrive on your selected date in two packages.

What are the shipping weights and dimensions for the Headboard?

    • The Queen Headboard panel box is 73” long by 25” wide, and 2.5” thick, and weighs ~30 lbs.

    • The King Headboard panel box is 93” long by 25” wide, and 2.5” thick, and weighs ~32 lbs.

    • The Hardware box for both sizes is 11” long by 10.75” wide and 4.5” tall, and weighs ~8 lbs.

How do I set up the Headboard with my Platform Bed?

If you are adding the Headboard to Floyd Bed after setting up the bed frame, you will need to release the straps underneath the platform at the head of your bed. After releasing the strap, separate the panels enough to attach the Headboard brackets so they are 2 inches from the ends of the panels. Next, move the panels back together. Place the Headboard panel into the brackets, making sure the brackets stay aligned. Then tighten the fasteners to secure the headboard in place. After this, re-tighten the strap underneath the bed.

If you are setting up your Floyd Bed for the first time, attach the Headboard brackets while setting up the bed panels. The brackets should be 2 inches from the ends of the panels. Tighten the strap at the foot of the bed to hold the panels together. Then place the headboard panel into the brackets, making sure the brackets stay aligned. Tighten the fasteners to secure the headboard in place. After this, tighten strap at the head of the bed.

You can see the assembly video here.

Is The Headboard made from the same material as the Platform Bed Panels?

Yes. The Headboard is made with real birch wood, and constructed with a honeycomb core, keeping it lightweight without compromising its strength or sturdiness.

    Is the Headboard treated?

The Headboard is finished with a light clear coat that is UV sealed.

Does the Headboard produce any off-gas VOC’s?

Like the Platform Bed panels, the Headboard is produced to meet the highest government standards for VOC off-gassing. There is very very little off-gassing, if any at all.

Can I stain or refinish the Headboard?

We do not recommend staining or refinishing the Headboard. It is already finished with a light clear coat that is UV sealed.

    Can I cut the Headboard?

No, we don’t recommend cutting the Headboard, because is not solid wood throughout. Cutting it will damage its structural integrity.

Can I make my own Headboard?

If you would like to purchase the Headboard Hardware on it's own, please reach out to our Customer Experience Team at hello@floydhome.com and we can help to accomodate a special order.

I need replacement assembly instructions for my Headboard. Where can find them?

You can download the Headboard instructions in English, French, and Spanish here.

  • What does the Underbed Storage consist of?

The Floyd Underbed Storage is a storage system for the Floyd Platform Bed Frame. It is designed specifically for use with the Floyd Bed Frame. It’s a pull out drawer, which includes a canvas basket with a steel wire frame, attached to two Bed Frame end supports that incorporate drawer slides.

Please note: Ordering the Underbed Storage will result in two additional end supports, made specifically to attach the Underbed Storage to your Floyd Bed. We encourage you to save your original end supports in case you want to set up another Bed in the future. The Floyd Bed Frame is modular, which means you can always upgrade to a larger size or downgrade to a smaller size by using the system of parts in different ways!

How does the Underbed Storage work?

Once assembled, the Underbed Storage works like a drawer that is attached to your Bed Frame. You can pull it out to place items in it and push it closed to store your goods.

The storage basket sits recessed from the edge of your bed by 2.125”.

How far out does the drawer extend when it’s fully opened?

The drawer extends 15.5" out from the Bed Frame when fully opened.

    How does assembly work?

The Underbed Storage assembly video can be found here.

If you are attaching the Underbed Storage to an already assembled Floyd Bed:

    1. Fully release your ratchet straps underneath the bed frame (see 3:33 of the bed frame assembly video for a refresher on how to).
    2. Remove two end supports from the side where you wish to attach the Underbed Storage.
    3. Take the two new end supports out of the box. Each new end support has part of each drawer slide already attached to it. Connect the drawer slide on each end support to its mating part on each side of the wire frame. Then as a single unit, attach it to your Floyd Bed Frame, replacing the old end supports.
    4. Re-fasten your ratchet straps to secure the unit in place. You can keep your old end supports for future use (in case you’d like to set up the Bed Frame differently, or without the Underbed Storage, in the future).

If you are setting up your Floyd Bed for the first time with the Underbed Storage:

    1. Take the two Underbed Storage end supports out of the box. Each support has part of each drawer slide already attached to it. Connect the drawer slide on each end support to its mating part on each side of the wire frame. Then as a single unit, attach it to your Floyd Bed Frame in place of the end supports provided with your Bed Frame. You will not use the original end supports that are provided in your Floyd Bed Frame box. You can keep these for later use.
    2. Follow the Floyd Bed instructions to complete your assembly. Be sure to tighten the ratchet straps around the Underbed Storage end supports.

What type of fabric is used?

The fabric of the Underbed Storage is made from 18oz Cotton Canvas.

    Is the canvas basket washable?

While the canvas is technically removable, we don’t suggest machine washing it. Because it is a heavier weight canvas, it is actually water resistant. We suggest spot cleaning with warm water & soap, or a simple duster! You can remove the basket to hang dry if needed. The steel end supports can we wiped down with a damp rag.

    What is the weight limit?

The Underbed Storage can accommodate up to 80 lbs.

Can I put two Underbed storage baskets on any Floyd Bed?

Yes! You can add one storage basket to either side of your Floyd Bed. You can add up to two units on either side of each size Floyd Bed – it works with Twin, Queen, and King size Bed Frames.

Note: You can not add two storage baskets to the same side and cannot be added to end of the Bed.

Does your Underbed storage basket work with other bed frames?

No, we’ve designed our Underbed Storage exclusively for The Floyd Bed Frame.

What are the shipping weights and dimensions?

The Underbed Storage box is 47” (119.4 cm) long x 23” (59 cm) wide x 5” (12.7 cm) tall, and weighs 28 lbs.

Does the Underbed Storage ship internationally?

We do not ship the Underbed Storage internationally at this time. If this is something you’d like to see in the future, please send a note to our team at hello@floydhome.com.

  • What is the Framework?

The Framework is everything you need to make a platform bed, except for the panels! The Framework allows you to source your own panels to make a customized platform bed.

How do I source my own panels?

Sourcing your own panels is easy! You can look up a local establishment that sells wood and give them a call with the dimensions you are looking for (see FAQ on Surface Materials)!

What dimensions should I look for?

If you would like to get panels that are the exact size as the panels we provide with the Platform Bed, you will need to get panels of wood (whichever type you desire, we use birch!) that are 86” (~218 cm) long x 22” (~55.8 cm) wide x 1.5” (~3.8 cm). Getting close to the 1.5" (~3.8 cm) thickness is quite important as that is the thickness needed for the metal supports to fit properly.

Note: you can use two 0.75” pieces of wood laminated (glued) together to get the 1.5” thickness. Similarly, outside of the U.S. you can use two 19mm pieces of wood to get the 38mm thickness. This will still work just fine :)

Can I make the panels any size I want? How much can I vary these dimensions?

You can certainly make your panels any size you would like. For example, if you would like your panels to be flush with your mattress, you can source them based on the size of your mattress. Keep in mind that a Twin Bed Framework includes supports to hold (2) panels, a Queen Bed Framework includes supports to hold (3) panels, and a King Bed Framework includes supports to hold (4) panels.

I want to purchase the panels, can I do that?

If you previously bought the Bed Framework but now would like to purchase the panels, you most certainly can! Please email us at hello@floydhome.com.

If I source my own panels, how can I get them treated? Why should I treat the wood?

When sourcing your own panels, we recommend plywood and sealing it with a clear water-based polyurethane. This process gives the wood a more “finished” look and also helps avoid the possibility for mold.

Is there any danger to not having them treated or sealed?

The only possible danger of getting not sealing or curing your sourced panels is the potential for mold.

What is the clearance underneath the Bed Framework?

The Bed Framework is 7.5” (~19 cm) tall and the opening for the panels is 1.5” (~3.8 cm) thick. That leaves 6” (~15 cm) of clearance from the floor to the bottom of the platform for storage underneath.

What is the measurement of the Bed Framework "tab"?

The "tab" is the part of the Bed Framework that hooks over your panel and shows on the surface. The "tab" portion is 2" (~5cm) long x 2" wide.

  • What is the maximum weight the Utility Set can hold?

The maximum weight we recommend for the Utility Set is 125 lbs (~56 kg), including the surface. However, it greatly depends on the material you are using for the table surface.

What are the recommended dimensions for the sourced table surface with the Utility Set?

The maximum table surface size is 8' x 4' (~243.8 cm x ~121.9 cm) with a maximum diagonal of 9' (~274.3 cm). The minimum thickness for a surface is 1.5” (~3.8 cm) and the maximum thickness for the Utility Set surface is 1 ⅞" (~4.7 cm). A 2" (~5 cm) surface will be too thick.

What are the dimensions of the Utility Set?

The Utility Set is 29.5” (~74.9 cm) tall. The corner piece that hugs the corner of your surface material will take up a 2” x 2” (~5 cm x ~5 cm) square on top of the surface material. The depth of the mouth of the leg is 2” (~5 cm).

How much does the Utility Set weigh?

The Utility Set includes (4) legs. The entire set weighs 16 lbs (~7.26 kg).

Does the Utility Set work for round surfaces?

The Utility Set cannot be used with round surfaces. It is designed to hug the corners of a rectangular surface.

  • What is the recommended use for the 16” Floyd Legs?

The 16" Floyd Legs are perfect for light to medium-use surfaces, such as a coffee or bedside table. We do not recommend using them to create a bench. In other words, please do not sit on them!

What is the weight limit for the 16” Floyd Legs?

For the 16" Floyd Legs, the maximum weight we recommend for both surface material and anything resting on top of the table is a total of 75 lbs (~34 kg) combined.

What are the recommended dimensions for the sourced table surface with the 16” Floyd Legs?

The diagonal of your surface should not exceed 56" (142 cm). The minimum thickness we recommend for a surface material is 1.5” (~3.8 cm). The maximum thickness for the 16" Floyd Legs - 16" surface is 1 ⅞" (~4.7 cm). A 2" (~5 cm) surface will be too thick

What are the dimensions of the 16” Floyd Legs?

The 16” Floyd Legs are 16” (~40.6 cm) tall, 2” (~5 cm) wide. The tab on the top of the legs is 2” x 2” (~5 cm x ~5 cm).

How much do the 16” Floyd Legs weigh?

The 16" Floyd Legs includes (4) legs. The entire set weighs 8 lbs (~3.63 kg).

Can the 16” Floyd Legs work with round surfaces?

Yes, the 16” Floyd Legs can be used with round surfaces. The leg will not sit flush against the round surface, but you can certainly use them to make a round coffee or bedside table!

  • Is there a weight limit for the Shelf Brackets?

The maximum weight we recommend being supported by the Floyd Shelf Brackets is 50 lbs (~22.6 kg), this includes both the surface material itself and any items placed on top of the shelf. That being said, it greatly depends on the surface material you use as well as the wall material and mount.

What is the minimum and maximum thickness for a surface material?
