Overview: 

As our Controller, reporting to the COO/Co-Founder, you will be an essential team member in managing and maintaining the financial health of Floyd. In this role, you will provide critical business intelligence and actionable financial insights that empower decision-making throughout the company to drive sustained profitable growth. You will work at the intersection of strategic finance and accounting, developing and maintaining our financial models, helping the team to make data-driven decisions aligned to P&L performance, and ensure that the financial operations run smoothly. As the financial representative for Floyd to both internal and external partners, you will bring a high degree of communication, professionalism, and a reflection of Floyd’s values to all interactions and touchpoints.  This role is full-time and must be based in Detroit.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide the company with timely, accurate, and actionable financial information
  • Lead timely month end close and digging in with the Accounting and Finance team plan
  • Own the forecast model
  • Align the Operations Team to P&L targets and develop strong processes around  accountability both to our team and our vendors (these are the areas of production, fulfillment and customer service)
  • Own our banking partner relationship and management of our ABL
  • Manage key administrative functions related to finance, from tax management to legal contracts 

This Might Describe You:

  • Experience as a Controller or similar level operational finance role (Director, VP, SVP level)
  • Accounting background and/or CPA required
  • Manufacturing Experience, preferably with consumer goods
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of product COGS
  • A true problem solver with our accounting and finance team 
  • A leader willing to get into the weeds and excellent communicator with the Operations team
  • Profitability-oriented management mindset
  • Deep knowledge of managing an efficient inventory model and an ABL
